The Jones Longhorns will challenge the Dibble Demons at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
On Wednesday, Jones got the win against Marietta by a conclusive 12-1. Considering the Longhorns have won 11 contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Ace Guthery made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. Guthery was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with four RBI and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Luke DeBusk, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one home run and three RBI. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season. Cooper Jones was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one double.
Meanwhile, Dibble got themselves on the board against Wynnewood on Friday, but Wynnewood never followed suit. They were the clear victors by an 8-0 margin over the Savages. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Demons.
Like Jones, Dibble also got a great game from a two-way player: Kaden Barnett. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Barnett has posted since back in April. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, AJ Skipper was excellent, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Noah Duarte, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.
Dibble now has a winning record of 15-14. As for Jones, their win bumped their record up to 16-12.
