Volleyball Recap: Jackson-Reed Wins High-Profile Match Against Maret

Jackson-Reed faced Maret in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Tigers came out on top against the Frogs by a score of 3-1. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Frogs recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Jackson-Reed walked away with the victory (and looked especially good in the second set). The final score came out to 25-17, 25-14, 13-25, 25-17.

Jackson-Reed was led to victory by Carys Gray and Layla Hernandez. Gray had five digs and five aces, while Hernandez had 12 digs and four aces. Gray has been hot, having posted two or more aces the last eight times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyaja James, who had 11 assists and four aces.

They weren't the only good servers: Jackson-Reed was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 20 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least 11 aces in three consecutive contests.

Jackson-Reed's win bumped their record up to 18-4-1. As for Maret, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season.

Jackson-Reed has already played their next match (against Woodson), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Maret, they will venture away from home to face off against Holton-Arms at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
