Softball Game Preview: Fallston Cougars vs. John Carroll Patriots

The Fallston Cougars will venture away from home to challenge the John Carroll Patriots at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Fallston knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully John Carroll likes a good challenge.

Fallston's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 12-0 margin over Joppatowne. The win continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Mariners: they've now won six in a row.

The team relied heavily on Sara Frist, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Ally Underwood, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, John Carroll earned a 5-1 victory over Catholic on Friday.

Emily Hildt spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits.

At the plate, Kallissa Coats was incredible, firing off two home runs and four RBI while going 3-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Anderson, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

Fallston's record is now 7-2. As for John Carroll, their record now sits at an identical 7-2.

Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Monday. Fallston hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.6 home runs per game. However, it's not like John Carroll struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.7 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.

Fallston beat John Carroll 5-2 when the teams last played back in March of 2022. Do the Cougars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Patriots turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
