Meredith Whitehurst spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and ten unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up 11 Ks. Those 11 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.
At the plate, Claire DuCkworth made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Valley Christian). Their pitchers stepped up to hand Apache Junction a 28-0 shutout on Friday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Trojans considering their two-run performance the game before.
Leigha Kremlacek and Taya Clausen made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Kremlacek tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Clausen pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. At bat, Kremlacek scored a run while going 2-for-3, while Clausen scored a run while going 1-for-1.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sophie Kercsmar, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, eight RBI, and three runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Makay Fraley, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI.

Valley Christian's victory was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-2-1.
