Soccer Recap: Carterville Comes Up Short

After some red-hot attacks on offense in their last three matchups, Carterville finally came back down to earth on Tuesday. They lost 5-0 to the Murphysboro Red Devils. That makes it the first time this season Carterville have let down their home crowd.

Carterville's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 8-2. As for Murphysboro, the win was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-2-1.

Carterville has already played their next contest, a 9-0 victory against DuQuoin on the 23rd. As for Murphysboro, they also wasted no time getting back out on the pitch and have already played their next game, a 7-0 win against Harrisburg on the 23rd.
