Softball Recap: Oakleaf Victorious

Oakleaf got themselves on the board against Yulee on Thursday, but Yulee never followed suit. They skirted past the Yulee Hornets 2-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Knights have posted since February 20th.

Not much got past Charlotte Maddox, who gave up just three hits and racked up ten Ks to keep Yulee off the board. Maddox has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ava Tolbert, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one double, and one RBI.

Oakleaf hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 2-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.

The victory got Oakleaf back to even at 5-5. As for Yulee, their loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 4-3-1.

Coming up, Oakleaf will face off against Ridgeview at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Oakleaf is facing Ridgeview at the right time seeing as Ridgeview is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Yulee, they will square off against Paxon School For Advanced Studies at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Paxon School For Advanced Studies will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Yulee surely won't give up without a fight.
