Football Recap: Casteel Find Success

Casteel and Mesa pushed the score to 42-27 the last time they played Mesa, but on Friday defenses reigned supreme. The Colts skirted past the Jackrabbits 13-10. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Colts.

Casteel can attribute much of their success to Brody Smith, who picked up 58 receiving yards and one TD. Those 58 receiving yards gave Smith a new career-high.

Despite the loss, Mesa still got an impressive performance from Rio Arnett, who rushed for 109 yards. Arnett's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 109 rushing yards.

Casteel now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Mesa, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Coming up, after each having a week off, Casteel and Highland will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:00 p.m. on October 10. As for Mesa, they will challenge Salpointe Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup will give the Jackrabbits their first taste of in-conference action this season.
