Basketball Recap: Mountain House Takes a Loss

Mountain House's tournament run continued when they took on Modesto Christian on Friday. The Mountain House Mustangs came up short against the Modesto Christian Crusaders, falling 80-55. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 253rd, while the Crusaders are ranked 50th).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Modesto Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Elijah Payne, who went 6 for 10 from beyond the arc on his way to 20 points. The dominant performance gave Payne a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Myles Jones, who went 7 of 10 on his way to 18 points and five rebounds.

Mountain House's loss dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Modesto Christian, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 6-3.

Mountain House didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 74-67 win against Weston Ranch on the 28th. As for Modesto Christian, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 69-57 victory against Clovis East on the 28th.
