Baseball Recap: South Bulldogs vs. Cristo Rey Cougar
South was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They lost 21-4 to the Cristo Rey Cougar. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougar this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-3 on Saturday.
Isaac Marshall made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 1-for-1 with four stolen bases and two runs. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1.2 stolen bases per game. Ovanti Dennis was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.
South's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Cristo Rey, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South will venture away from home to challenge Marion-Franklin at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Red Devils have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.9 runs per game on average), something the Bulldogs will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Cristo Rey, they will head out on the road to face off against Linden-McKinley at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
