Basketball Recap: Xxzavien Jenkins' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Rushville over Centerville

Rushville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 55-33 to the Centerville Bulldogs. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 347th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 154th).

Rushville's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was XxZavien Jenkins, who went 5 for 10 en route to 12 points and eight boards. Jenkins is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Owen Zachery was another key player, putting up nine points.

It was another big night for Landyn Keiser, who went 7 of 12 on his way to 18 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals for Centerville. Another player making a difference was Ethan Vecera, who posted six points along with seven assists and four steals.

Rushville's defeat dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Centerville, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-6.

Rushville has already played their next match (against Madison), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Centerville will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Richmond at 7:30 p.m. The timing is sure in Centerville's favor as the squad sits on 12 straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Richmond has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.
