Baseball Game Preview: Cherry Creek Bruins vs. Denver North Vikings

The Cherry Creek Bruins will square off against the Denver North Vikings at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. The timing is sure in Cherry Creek's favor as the team sits on eight straight wins at home while Denver North has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.

Cherry Creek is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Colorado's top teams: Grandview, who was ranked first at the time (Cherry Creek was ranked second). The Bruins narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Wolves 6-4.

Cael Knobbe looked comfortable as he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Connor Larkin was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and two stolen bases. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Sean Goldy, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Denver North suffered their closest loss since April 9, 2024 on Monday. They fell just short of Northfield by a score of 6-4.

Denver North saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Santana Vital, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Cherry Creek has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 16 of their last 17 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-5-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Denver North, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-11.
