Soccer Game Preview: Lakewood vs. Portland

The Lakewood Vikings will square off against the Portland Raiders at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lakewood will be strutting in after a victory while Portland will be coming in after a defeat.

Lakewood's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They blew past Waverly 7-0. The result was nothing new for Lakewood, who have now won four matchups by three goals or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Portland was not able to break out of their rough patch last Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 1-0 heartbreaker at the hands of Ionia.

Lakewood's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-6. Those road victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 20 goals over those three contests. As for Portland, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Lakewood beat Portland 2-0 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will the Vikings repeat their success, or do the Raiders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
