The Science Leadership Academy Rockets will venture away from home to challenge the George Washington Eagles at 3:15 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Science Leadership Academy is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Abraham Lincoln a 13-0 shutout. Winning may never get old, but the Rockets sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Karlee McDowell was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 15 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, Abi Disston and Marisa Phan did most of the damage at the plate: Disston went a perfect 3-for-3 with six stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Phan got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those two runs gave Disston a new career-high. Sofiya Kieselowsky was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask George Washington). Everything went their way against Nueva Esperanza on Thursday as they made off with an 18-3 win. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with Nueva Esperanza: they've now won four in a row.
Science Leadership Academy's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-5. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for George Washington, their record is now 10-3.
Science Leadership Academy came up short against George Washington when the teams last played back in April, falling 5-2. Can the Rockets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
