Baseball Recap: Camelback Takes a Loss

Cesar Chavez hit Camelback with a nine-run fifth inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Spartans lost 13-3 to the Champions. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Champions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-1 back in March.

Marcus Vera was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season. Cash Cachola was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run and one double.

This is the second loss in a row for Camelback and nudges their season record down to 5-16. As for Cesar Chavez, they have been performing well recently as they've won 13 of their last 16 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-9 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Camelback will host Apollo at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Cesar Chavez, they will be playing at home against Tucson High Magnet School at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Badgers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Champions' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
