Softball Game Preview: Waterford Lancers vs. Southington Blue Knights

Waterford is 0-3 against Southington since May of 2022 but things could change on Tuesday. The Lancers will look to defend their home field against the Blue Knights at 4:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Southington will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Waterford extended their winning streak to 13 on Thursday. The Lancers never let East Lyme get on the board and left with a 15-0 win.

Southington never got on the board in their matchup on Thursday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Middletown on Saturday. They blew past the Blue Dragons 14-2. The victory continues a trend for the Blue Knights in their matchups with the Blue Dragons: they've now won six in a row.

Aubrey Perugini was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Bafundo, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Waterford pushed their record up to 13-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games. As for Southington, their win bumped their record up to 9-2.
