Basketball Game Preview: St. Vincent de Paul Academy Hawks vs. Academie Lafayette

The St. Vincent de Paul Academy Hawks just played last yesterday, but they'll still welcome Academie Lafayette at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

St. Vincent de Paul Academy fought the good fight in their overtime match against Chesterton Academy of St. Philip Neri on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 70-60 to the Crusaders. While losing is never fun, the Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 415th, while the Crusaders are ranked 134th).

St. Vincent de Paul Academy might have lost, but man, George Spencer was a machine: he posted 22 points along with five rebounds and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Dominic Dubay, who had six points in addition to five boards and three steals.

Meanwhile, Academie Lafayette was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They took a 40-26 bruising from Frontier School of Excellence.

St. Vincent de Paul Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Academie Lafayette, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.

St. Vincent de Paul Academy beat Academie Lafayette 34-23 in their previous meeting back in November of 2024. Will St. Vincent de Paul Academy repeat their success, or does Academie Lafayette have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
