Baseball Game Preview: Armstrong Trojans vs. Hoopeston Cornjerkers

The Armstrong Trojans will square off against the Hoopeston Cornjerkers at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The timing is sure in Armstrong's favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while Hoopeston has been banged up by six consecutive losses on the road.

Armstrong is headed into the match having just suffered their closest loss since March 17th on Friday. They fell just short of Milford by a score of 3-1.

Armstrong saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carter Freeman, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Hoopeston fell victim to Lexington and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Minutemen.

Armstrong's defeat dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Hoopeston, their loss dropped their record down to 8-17.

Armstrong skirted past Hoopeston 3-1 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Do the Trojans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cornjerkers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
