Baseball Recap: Windermere Prep Victorious

Windermere Prep's game last Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over the Crooms Academy Panthers. The win continues a trend for the Lakers in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won four in a row.

Matthew Kirk spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Windermere Prep saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lucas Montalvo, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Justin Wang was another, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Windermere Prep's victory bumped their record up to 7-12. As for Crooms Academy, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Windermere Prep will head out to face off against Bishop Moore at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Crooms Academy, they will venture away from home to challenge Circle Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Centurions have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.89 runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
