Basketball Game Preview: Dexter Bearcats vs. Sikeston Bulldogs

Dexter hasn't had much luck against Sikeston recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Dexter Bearcats will head out to face off against the Sikeston Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Dexter saw some tournament action on Friday. They came out on top against Bernie by a score of 63-56.

Tucker Temples was a one-man wrecking crew for Dexter as he posted 22 points. Another player making a difference was John Sepulvado, who scored 14 points.

Meanwhile, Sikeston came tearing into Friday's matchup with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 29 points) and they left with even more momentum. They claimed a resounding 85-45 victory over the Hawks. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 14th, while the Hawks are ranked 378th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Sikeston pushed their record up to 16-2 with the win, which was their 29th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 84.9 points per game. As for Dexter, their victory bumped their record up to 9-10.

Dexter took a serious blow against Sikeston in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, falling 79-37. Can Dexter avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
