Excel Christian scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They walked away with a 57-47 win over Coleville. The win was a breath of fresh air for Excel Christian as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Excel Christian's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mark Doerfler, who scored 18 points. Another player making a difference was Jonah Calderas, who scored 13 points.
Meanwhile, after a string of eight wins, Smith Valley's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell 74-64 to Virginia City. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (58), Smith Valley still had to take the loss.
The victory got Excel Christian back to even at 9-9. As for Smith Valley, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-4.
Excel Christian was taken down by the Bulldogs 64-27 in their previous meeting back in January. The match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Excel Christian was down 41-15.
