Baseball Recap: Quitman's Losing Streak Snapped at Five Games

There's no place like home for Quitman, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They skirted past the Forest Bearcats 9-8. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Panthers as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

Malik Davis and Daniel Peters did most of the damage at the plate: Davis scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3, while Peters scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Peters is becoming a predictor of Quitman's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-2 (and 5-6 when he doesn't). Layken Herrington was another key player, getting no hits from his three at bats.

Quitman's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 9-8. As for Forest, they dropped their record down to 4-11 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Quitman wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 22-9 victory against Vicksburg on the 22nd. As for Forest, they have also already played their next match, a 14-4 defeat against Meridian on the 22nd.
