Basketball Game Preview: Lovington Wildcats vs. Goddard Rockets

The Lovington Wildcats will face off against the Goddard Rockets at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Friday, Lovington didn't have too much trouble with Portales as they won 64-46. The victory continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Rams: they've now won six in a row.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Goddard, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They secured a 45-40 W over Artesia on Friday. The win was all the more spectacular given the Rockets' disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico basketball rankings (they are ranked 77th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 15th).

Goddard pushed their record up to 11-14 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.3 points over those games. As for Lovington, their win bumped their record up to 16-10.

Everything came up roses for Lovington against Goddard in their previous meeting on Tuesday, as the squad secured a 66-35 victory. Will Lovington repeat their success, or does Goddard have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
