Softball Recap: Cuthbertson's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Cuthbertson hadn't done well against Piedmont recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Cuthbertson Cavaliers walked away with a 7-4 win over the Piedmont Panthers. The Cavaliers' victory was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.

Georgia McConnell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on ten hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single walk any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Caroline Petroff was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Emma Jarrett was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Cuthbertson's record is now 4-0. As for Piedmont, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cuthbertson will head out to take on Hopewell at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Cuthbertson is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 12.2 runs per game this season. As for Piedmont, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Piedmont Panthers face off against Central Academy Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
