Volleyball Recap: Hoke County Starts Season with Defeat at Home

Hoke County unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lumberton Pirates on Tuesday. The Bucks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Pirates apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in August of 2022.

Hoke County started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 17-25, 25-23, 25-22, 25-20.

Coming up, Hoke County will take on South View at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Lumberton, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Fairmont at 5:30 p.m.
