Basketball Recap: Wagner Takes a Loss

Wagner suffered their closest defeat since February 14, 2024 on Monday. They fell just short of the Hughes BIG RED by a score of 74-71.

Hughes' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Elijah Englemen, who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine boards. The team also got some help courtesy of LeShawn Hill, who went 6 of 11 on his way to 20 points in addition to six boards and five assists.

Wagner now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Hughes, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-3.

Wagner will venture away from home to face off against Boys & Girls at 5:00 p.m. on January 7th. As for Hughes, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 60-42 win against Gamble Montessori on the 3rd.
