Preview: Lakeland Regional Lancers vs. West Milford Highlanders
The Lakeland Regional Lancers and the West Milford Highlanders will face off at 7:00 p.m. on February 1st without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Lakeland Regional focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 26 on Tuesday.
Lakeland Regional struggled with assists on Tuesday (the Indians had 16 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Lakeland Regional had to suffer through a rough 73-31 loss at the hands of the Indians. While losing is never fun, Lakeland Regional can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 324th, while the Indians are ranked 58th).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Matt Vanderweele, who scored five points. The team also got some help courtesy of Joe Zonis, who scored four points.
Meanwhile, even though Passaic Valley scored an imposing 57 points on Tuesday, West Milford still came out on top. West Milford snuck past the Hornets with a 61-57 victory. 61 seems to be a good number for West Milford as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.
Lakeland Regional's defeat dropped their record down to 4-12. As for West Milford, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a massive bump to their 9-10 record this season.
Lakeland Regional came up short against the Highlanders in their previous meeting back in January, falling 60-50. Can Lakeland Regional avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
