Baseball Game Preview: Everett Alvarez Eagles vs. North Monterey County Condors

For the second straight game, Everett Alvarez will face off against North Monterey County. The Eagles will head out on the road to challenge the Condors at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Everett Alvarez has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with six straight defeats, while North Monterey County will come in with four straight victories.

North Monterey County hit Everett Alvarez with a seven-run second inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Eagles fell 8-3 to the Condors.

For North Monterey County's part, Jered Kallenberger spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits and racked up ten Ks. Kallenberger has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Greg Jimenez was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Leo Cruz, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: North Monterey County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March.

North Monterey County's win bumped their record up to 11-9. As for Everett Alvarez, their loss dropped their record down to 8-12.
