Football Game Preview: Southeast Career Tech Roadrunners vs. Silverado Skyhawks

The Southeast Career Tech Roadrunners will head out to face off against the Silverado Skyhawks at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Southeast Career Tech will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

Southeast Career Tech picked up another tournament win on Saturday. They walked away with a 19-6 victory over Foothill.

A big part of Southeast Career Tech's win came down to the chemistry between Leyla Randolph and her top target Melody Velazquez. Randolph rushed for 47 yards and one touchdown while Velazquez picked up 64 receiving yards and two touchdowns. An impressive showing, but Velazquez really ramped things up playing D: she made nine total tackles and defended one pass in addition to snagging an interception.

Southeast Career Tech didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Jaelyn Sotelo, Velazquez, Jayla Elfberg, and Aysia Suyat picked up one apiece. Sotelo is also on a roll when it comes to defended passes, as she's now defended at least one in the last three games she's played.

Meanwhile, Silverado came into Saturday's contest having lost 19 straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They had just enough and edged Rancho out 15-12. The Skyhawks' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Southeast Career Tech is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 7.6 points per game. As for Silverado, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.

Everything came up roses for Southeast Career Tech against Silverado in their previous matchup back in January, as the squad secured a 39-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Southeast Career Tech since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
