Baseball Recap: Indian Rocks Christian Drops Season-High Score on Southeast

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Indian Rocks Christian). They blew past the Southeast Seminoles 18-3 on Tuesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Eagles considering their one-run performance the contest before.

Reece Barbaro was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Noah Mortellite, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Austin Leiher, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Indian Rocks Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

With the win, Indian Rocks Christian broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-4. As for Southeast, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.

Coming up, Indian Rocks Christian will challenge Seminole at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Seminole's pitching crew has only allowed 2.2 runs per game this season, so Indian Rocks Christian's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Southeast, they have already played their next matchup, a 10-0 defeat against Bell Creek Academy on the 26th.
