Basketball Game Preview: Central Christian Comets vs. Orrville Red Riders

The Central Christian Comets will head out on the road to take on the Orrville Red Riders at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Neither Central Christian nor Orrville posted many points in their last games, so it might be the defenses that decide this one.

Last Monday, Central Christian had to suffer through a 54-20 loss at the hands of Elyria Catholic. While losing is never fun, the Comets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 519th, while the Panthers are ranked 75th).

Meanwhile, Orrville played a tough game on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against Smithville, falling 44-24. The Red Riders were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 30-0.

Orrville's loss dropped their record down to 6-12. As for Central Christian, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 9-7.

Central Christian came up short against Orrville when the teams last played back in February of 2021, falling 55-47. Can Central Christian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
