Basketball Recap: Wren Takes a Loss

Wren has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 42-29 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rowan County Vikings on Saturday. The matchup marked the Hurricanes' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Despite the loss, Wren saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ava O'Shields went 6 of 14 en route to 14 points and five rebounds. That was a full 48.3% of Wren's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points.

Wren's defeat dropped their record down to 9-4. As for Rowan County, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-4.

Wren will venture away from home to face off against Cane Bay at 1:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Rowan County, they will be taking part in a tournament against Lewis County at 11:00 a.m. on Monday. Lewis County will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Rowan County surely won't give up without a fight.
