Basketball Recap: Cross Lanes Christian Falls Despite Big Games from Collin Martin and Christian Shamblin

Cross Lanes Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a hard 63-47 fall against the Mount Hope Christian Academy Warriors. Cross Lanes Christian was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Mount Hope Christian Academy apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Cross Lanes Christian's loss came despite strong showings from Christian Shamblin and Collin Martin. Shamblin dropped a double-double on 13 points and 14 rebounds, while Martin went 6 of 11 en route to 12 points and three steals. Those 12 points gave Martin a new career-high.

Mount Hope Christian Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was JETT WILCOX, who went 6 for 11 on his way to 13 points in addition to eight boards and three steals. WILCOX has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of TALAN CARON, who went 6 of 8 en route to 13 points along with eight boards and five assists.

Cross Lanes Christian's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Mount Hope Christian Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-11 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cross Lanes Christian will take on Elk Valley Christian at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Mount Hope Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Summit Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
