Basketball Game Preview: Cedar Vale/Dexter Spartans vs. Udall Eagles

Cedar Vale/Dexter hasn't had much luck against Udall recently, but that could start to change on Friday. After both having extra time off, the two teams will dust off their jerseys to square off against one another at 6:00 p.m. Udall took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Cedar Vale/Dexter, who comes in off a win.

Cedar Vale/Dexter took a loss when they played away from home on December 14th, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed two weeks ago. They came out on top against Central by a score of 37-25.

Cedar Vale/Dexter's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Zoe Davidson led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on 15 points and nine boards. That makes it five consecutive games in which Davidson has scored at least a third of Cedar Vale/Dexter's points. Another player making a difference was Eislee Boatman, who posted seven points and four steals.

Meanwhile, Udall scored the most points they've had this season two weeks ago, but it wasn't enough. They fell to Norwich 53-49.

Cedar Vale/Dexter will need focus on slowing down Lilly Hoffman, one of several Udall players who made an impact when they last played. She put up 24 points in addition to seven boards and five steals. Hoffman's evening made it seven games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Korie Bird, who made all 5 shots she took to post 11 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.

Cedar Vale/Dexter now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Udall, they now have a losing record at 2-3.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Cedar Vale/Dexter has crashing the boards this season, having averaged 33.8 boards per game. However, it's not like Udall struggles in that department as they've been averaging 24.2 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.

Cedar Vale/Dexter beat Udall 58-47 in their previous meeting back in January. Will Cedar Vale/Dexter repeat their success, or does Udall have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
