Softball Game Preview: Blue Ridge Tigers vs. Mount Vernon Tigers

For the second straight game, Blue Ridge will face off against Mount Vernon. Blue Ridge will square off against Mount Vernon at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Blue Ridge fell victim to Mount Vernon and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They lost 10-0 to Mount Vernon. Considering the last time Blue Ridge couldn't score was back in March, the team can't take the result too hard.

For Mount Vernon's part, Olivia Baird was a standout: she went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and two runs. Baird is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Haley Danielson, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

Mount Vernon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .381. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .381 or higher in 13 consecutive matchups.

Mount Vernon has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 16 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-5-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Blue Ridge, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-8.
