Cibola faced Piedra Vista in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Cougars won by a run and slipped past the Panthers 5-4. The Cougars have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Panthers, too.

Cibola's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Ryan Hutchinson, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.

Cibola's victory bumped their record up to 13-5. As for Piedra Vista, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-6 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Cibola is set to take on their familiar foe Rio Rancho at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Piedra Vista will face off against rival Cleveland at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
