Baseball Recap: Osakis Comes Up Short

Osakis had lost five straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 3-13 to make it six. They came up short against Benson, falling 16-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against Benson this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-0 back in April.

Blake Fischer was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one triple. That triple was his first of the season.

As for Benson, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games.

On Benson's side, Adrian Young made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched 2.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. What's more, Young posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April. He was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two triples, four RBI, and one run.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Osakis will welcome Long Prairie-Grey Eagle at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Thunder's pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Silverstreaks' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Benson, they will take on Upsala/Swanville at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The contest will give Benson their first taste of in-conference action this season.
