Volleyball Recap: Steele Canyon Cougars vs. Mira Mesa Marauders

Steele Canyon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Mira Mesa Marauders.

Taylor Carpenter paced Steele Canyon's offense, picking up eight kills. Carpenter got some help from Maddison Barefield and her eight assists. Tiana Baker controlled things from the service line, finishing with five aces.

Among those leading the charge was Melanie Warner, who had five aces. That's the most aces she has posted since back in August.

Steele Canyon's loss dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Mira Mesa, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-13 record this season.

Steele Canyon will be playing in front of their home fans against Mount Miguel at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mira Mesa, they will head out on the road to take on Horizon Prep at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
