Baseball Recap: Roosevelt Gets the Win

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Roosevelt ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out the Ravenna Ravens 8-7. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

The team relied heavily on Teddy Maccarone, who went 4-for-5 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. John Estep was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one stolen base.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Roosevelt kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Roosevelt is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-10 record this season. As for Ravenna, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season.

Roosevelt will venture away from home to face off against Tallmadge at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Ravenna, they will welcome Garfield at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
