Preview: Wood Memorial Trojans vs. Mt. Vernon Wildcats

Wood Memorial is 6-1 against Mt. Vernon since December of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Wood Memorial Trojans will head out on the road to challenge the Mt. Vernon Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. Hopefully Wood Memorial is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Mt. Vernon in Indiana (Wood Memorial is ranked 161st, while Mt. Vernon is ranked 326th).

Wood Memorial scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They breezed by Shoals at home to the tune of 72-13. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Wood Memorial has posted since November 30, 2023.

Meanwhile, Mt. Vernon's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their tenth straight loss. They took a hard 44-29 fall against Forest Park. Mt. Vernon has not had much luck with Forest Park recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

The losing side was boosted by Arlissa Sharber, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds.

Wood Memorial now has a winning record of 11-10. As for Mt. Vernon, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 2-19.

Wood Memorial strolled past Mt. Vernon in their previous matchup back in January of 2023 by a score of 42-24. The rematch might be a little tougher for Wood Memorial since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
