Baseball Game Preview: Ross Little Giants vs. Findlay Trojans

Ross is 1-8 against Findlay since May of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Little Giants will challenge the Trojans at 5:00 p.m. Ross will be strutting in after a victory while Findlay will be coming in after a defeat.

Ross gave up the first runs last Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top against Southview by a score of 6-3.

Karson Kayden spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on seven hits and racked up nine Ks. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Ross is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 2-4 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Cade Reineck, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That run marked the first that he scored this season. Another player making a difference was Breylen Garza, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Ross was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. The last time their batting average was this high was was before the start of last season.

Meanwhile, Findlay didn't have quite enough to beat Anthony Wayne on Wednesday and fell 3-2. The match marked the Trojans' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Ross has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. Having lost for the first time this season, Findlay fell to 4-1.

Ross came up short against Findlay in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, falling 5-0. Can the Little Giants avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
