Football Recap: Rockingham County Takes a Loss

Rockingham County lost against Western Alamance back in February of 2021, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Cougars came up short against the Warriors, falling 28-8. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 242nd, while the Warriors are ranked 104th).

Luke Strittmatter threw for 136 yards and one touchdown. James Thomas was his top target, picking up 68 receiving yards and one score.

The critical scores for Western Alamance came from Marqua Sims, Amir Cummings, Jordan Hall, and Ethan Oakley.

Rockingham County now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Western Alamance, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Coming up, Rockingham County will challenge Asheboro at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Western Alamance, they will face off against Graham at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The game will give the Warriors their first taste of in-conference action this season.
