Basketball Game Preview: Aledo Bearcats vs. Chisholm Trail Rangers

Aledo is on a four-game streak of home wins, while Chisholm Trail is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Aledo Bearcats will welcome the Chisholm Trail Rangers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Aledo's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last seven matches.

On Tuesday, Aledo needed a bit of extra time to put away Memorial. It was close, but they ultimately received the gift of a 76-73 victory from a begrudging Bearcats squad. Given their advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 57th, while the Mavericks are ranked 466th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Chisholm Trail on Tuesday. The stars were shining brightly for them in a 64-45 win over Ranchview.

Aledo better focus on containing Kaden Richardson and Jesse Mutombo as the pair were huge in Chisholm Trail's win. Richardson went 7 of 15 on his way to 18 points and five steals, while Mutombo posted 17 points in addition to five assists and five boards. The contest was Mutombo's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jabari Griffin, who put up ten points.

Chisholm Trail was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February.

Chisholm Trail has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.5 points per game. As for Aledo, their victory bumped their record up to 15-1.

Aledo came up short against Chisholm Trail when the teams last played back in November of 2023, falling 64-56. Can Aledo avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
