Recap: Franklin-Simpson Wildcats vs. Taylor County Cardinals
The Franklin-Simpson Wildcats put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 49-39 win over Taylor County. Given Franklin-Simpson's advantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked third, while Taylor County is ranked 59th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
LaReesha Cawthorn continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 18 points and 13 rebounds. She hasn't dropped below two steals for seven straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Kloie Smith, who scored ten points along with nine rebounds.
Franklin-Simpson's win bumped their record up to 16-0. As for Taylor County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-6.
Franklin-Simpson on the road again on Sunday and play against Boyd County at 12:00 p.m. on January 14th. As for Taylor County, they will be playing at home against Campbellsville at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Campbellsville knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three contests -- so hopefully Taylor County likes a good challenge.
