Volleyball Recap: Galena Comes Up Short

Galena and Monett faced off in a Battle of the Bears on Saturday. The Bears fell 2-0 to the Cubs. The Bears were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cubs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-13.

Mel Rice paced Galena's offense, picking up nine kills. Rice got some help from Ava Watson and her nine assists. Addison Williams controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Galena's defeat dropped their record down to 15-9-3. As for Monett, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-5-1.

Galena has already played their next contest, a 3-0 loss against School of the Ozarks on the 30th. As for Monett, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 2-1 victory against Marionville on the 27th.
