Briar Woods gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They skirted past the Broad Run Spartans 13-10. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Falcons' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia football rankings (they are ranked 34th, while the Spartans are ranked 215th).

Brody Pagano threw for 78 yards on seven of 12 attempts. Richard Amaa was his top target, picking up 56 receiving yards.

Briar Woods will look to defend their home field on September 5 against Brentsville District at 7:00 p.m. As for Broad Run, they will head out on the road to challenge Riverside at 7:00 p.m. on September 5.
