Soccer Game Preview: Olympia vs. Illinois Valley Central

The Olympia Spartans will venture away from home to face off against the Illinois Valley Central Grey Ghosts at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Illinois Valley Central took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Olympia, who comes in off a win.

Olympia's defense heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over Unity Christian/Argenta Oreana/Decatur Christian.

Elyse Eimer and Ella Evans scored all three of Olympia's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 15 goals.

Meanwhile, Saturday just wasn't the day for Illinois Valley Central's offense. They lost 4-0 to Monticello on Saturday. The defeat continues a trend for Illinois Valley Central in their meetings with Monticello: they've now lost eight in a row.

Olympia's win bumped their record up to 7-9-2. As for Illinois Valley Central, their loss dropped their record down to 2-15-1.

Everything went Olympia's way against Illinois Valley Central when the teams last played back in April, as Olympia made off with a 4-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Spartans since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
