Football Recap: Custer County Comes Up Short

Custer County extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping them down to 1-4. They lost to the Sidney Eagles at home by a 21-6 margin. The contest marked the Cowboys' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Warren Venable threw for 112 yards on 11 of 21 attempts. Lute Venn was his top target, picking up 62 receiving yards.

As for Sidney, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 34.0 points over those games.

It was another big night for Gradin Sukut, who rushed for 80 yards and three touchdowns, and also threw for 136 yards on 12 of 17 attempts. He didn't just play on offense: he also made four total tackles and defended two passes in addition to snagging two interceptions. Sidney also got a significant boost from Aaron Schmitz, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 86 yards.

Custer County has already played their next game, a 16-8 loss against Dawson County on the 10th. As for Sidney, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 20-18 win against Lockwood on the 10th.
