Football Game Preview: Austin Maroons vs. Lake Travis Cavaliers

Austin is 0-8 against Lake Travis since October of 2015 but things could change on Thursday. The Maroons will host the Cavaliers at 7:30 p.m. Austin has given up an average of 36.7 points per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Austin managed to slip by Bowie the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Maroons were beaten by the Bulldogs 34-7 on Friday. Having soared to a lofty 33 points in the game before, the Maroons couldn't push the score so high this time.

Meanwhile, Lake Travis put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They breezed past Akins to the tune of 48-0. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Cavaliers' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked fifth, while the Eagles are ranked 606th).

Lake Travis' win bumped their record up to 9-0. As for Austin, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.

Austin took a serious blow against Lake Travis in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, falling 56-7. Thankfully for the Maroons, Chaston Ditta (who threw for 145 yards and three touchdowns, and also punched in a pair of TDs on the ground) won't be suiting up this time.
