Baseball Recap: Sonoma Academy Continues Road Dominance on Friday

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Branson, Sonoma Academy was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They walked away with an 8-4 win over the Willits Wolverines. The victory continues a trend for the Coyotes in their matchups with the Wolverines: they've now won three in a row.

Victor Jennings was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. Jennings was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

In other batting news, Noah Proctor was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Sonoma Academy is undefeated when Proctor posts two or more runs, but 1-4 otherwise. Charlie Mutz was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Sonoma Academy's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-4. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Willits, their record is now 5-9-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sonoma Academy will square off against Technology at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Willits, they will take on Calistoga at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
