Recap: Wingfield Falcons vs. Brookhaven Panthers
This season hasn't been kind to the Wingfield Falcons, who are still winless after their tenth game. They suffered a rough 73-47 defeat at the hands of Brookhaven on Thursday. Wingfield was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-19.
When it comes to explaining why Wingfield lost, one person who can't be blamed is Martavius Bennett. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 22 points and 17 rebounds. Those 17 rebounds set a new season-high mark for him.
Jaylen Haliburton continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Brookhaven, scoring 22 points along with six steals. The game was Haliburton's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Rontrell Williams, who scored ten points along with six steals.
Wingfield's loss was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-10. As for Brookhaven, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 10-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wingfield will take on Velma Jackson at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Velma Jackson focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Friday. As for Brookhaven, they will head out on the road to face off against South Pike at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
